$87m Treaty deal sparks peaceful protest in Taranaki 2014                                                            Te Reo with Sub Titles

 Demonstrations have began in the Taranaki settlement of Waitara, objecting Te Atiawa’s recent Treaty settlement with the Crown. Otaraua, Manukorihi, and Ngāti Tawhirikura – three of the iwi’s own hapū, are lead the challenge. They claim by taking the $87 million deal, the iwi has undermined their people who would rather have their confiscated lands returned.
