Day Out on the Waitara Railway 2025

 A great day out in Waitara for a visiting camera crew.

On Sunday the 5th of January, we revisited the Waitara Railway near New Plymouth, and went for a train ride to Lepperton and back. This time, the WRPS was using a rather unique shunter (built by A&G Price of Thames in 1968) instead of their mascot locomotive ‘Portland 11’.

Price 222 is now enjoying an easy retirement on a little branch line in Taranaki, which is very different from her original working environment up in Auckland (to say the least).
