Eltham lions gift Health Foundation $29,400 2025
In September 2025 Lions from across Taranaki gathered at the Church Hall in Stratford to celebrate the Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF) Grant handover, what an evening it was!
An incredible $29,400 was officially presented to the Taranaki Health Foundation, thanks to the collective efforts of clubs throughout the region.
This generous donation is helping to fund:
– A Whānau Room in the new Emergency Department – A Children’s Area in the ED
– 10 specialized chemo IV stands for the new Cancer Centre
(These items fall outside of government funding, so Lions stepped up!)
The evening was guided by Denis Hurcomb, who opened and closed the night with heartfelt words of pride and gratitude.
Lions District Governor Mike Powell also spoke, reminding us of the power of Lions coming together, locally and worldwide, and how this project shows what “friends through service” can achieve.
Grant Carter from Taranaki Health Foundation shared uplifting updates: including $13M+ raised so far, new mental health and renal facilities already in use, and exciting plans for the cancer centre opening in November. He also hinted at future developments in South Taranaki, but some of that needs to stay off the record for now.
A night full of heart, hope, and proof that when Lions come together, we make amazing things happen.
