Mt messenger update
Here’s our latest flyover of the Te Ara o Te Ata: Mt Messenger Bypass project site in Taranaki, with a great behind-the-scenes look at the progress we’re making building the new road.
Even though work tends to be quieter in the winter months, there’s still plenty of mahi taking place and progress being made.
You can see the deep cuts and excavation the team has completed leading up to the new tunnel we’re excavating, and we’ve also included video of the excavation inside the tunnel captured just last week.
So far workers have excavated more than 95 metres of the top section of the future 235-metre-long tunnel. In the next few weeks we’ll share more about the work happening inside the tunnel. You’ll also see how the team has wrapped parts of the site to protect the land and nearby waterways from the winter conditions we’re experiencing. Our project alliance director Dale Burtenshaw provides the commentary for these sights and more.
Te Ara o Te Ata will be a new 6-kilometre section of State Highway 3 that’ll help boost economic growth and provide a safer, more resilient route between Taranaki and Waikato.
