New Plymouth Aerodrome in the late 1940s – VIDEO

Description

New Plymouth Aerodrome in the late 1940s

After a brief spell in a Taranaki cowshed you’ll have a brief glimpse of the aerodrome at New Plymouth. This would have been sometime in the late 1940s. I can be seen as a small child. I have no memory of the occasion unfortunately. My father, Bill Reesby, belonged to the New Plymouth Aero Club between 1946 and 1953, but died in 1955. Now, of course, I wish I’d asked my mother more about it when she was alive.

After a quick look at a swimming pool (I’ve no idea where, when and why he took this) the clip ends with a shot of him and another man at the Mt Stewart memorial between Palmerston North and Sanson – Bill’s the one with the cigarette in his hand.
