New Plymouth to Levin and onwards – full video

Here’s a look from a drone’s eye view at the Ōtaki to north of Levin: Te Pae o Tararua project.

Aside from some incredible vistas of the landscape you can see that since our last update we’ve made leaps in progress with building the new four-lane, 24-kilometre highway.

Our Structures Managers share their insights into the work and what’s involved in delivering such an interesting and complex piece of infrastructure.

In this flyover you’ll see that we’ve achieved a major milestone with the first bridge beam on the new expressway being lifted into place. You’ll also get a close-up look at the piling rig in action at the Ōhau Awa bridge, where work is continuing to build the foundations for the expressway’s longest bridge.

The Ōtaki to north of Levin: Te Pae o Tararua project is building a Road of National Significance, that’ll stretch from Taylors Road in Ōtaki to just north of Levin. Once finished you can expect a much safer road, travel time savings of 11-15 minutes for trips from Ōtaki to north of Levin, and, for people in Levin, an improved urban space with less through traffic (particularly heavy vehicles).
