Refurbished King Edward Park Observatory opens for Taranaki Garden Festival 2024

Alice Arnold and Miranda Cullen showed Bryan Vickery the refurbished King Edward Park Observatory, which will be open for visitors during the Centuria Taranaki Garden Festival in November. Open Daily 10am-2pm.

The Observatory will be officially opened as the Park Museum. They will celebrate with an opening day performance by Hawera Brass Band from 1-3pm on Sunday 3 November.

Free lunchtime concerts from 12.30-1.30pm, 4-8 Nov.

Plus a chance to learn about Taranaki’s southern sky including viewing through the 1905 Cooke refractor telescope. Check Hāwera Astronomical for night time viewings during the Garden Festival.
