Taranaki Maunga granted legal personhood

160 years after its confiscation during the New Zealand Land Wars, Taranaki Maunga is to be recognised as a legal person. This historic move was confirmed today, as Parliament passed the final reading of its Treaty settlement redress, marking a new chapter for the stewardship and cultural restoration of Taranaki Māori.
