Tariki Rd Hillclimb 2021
Standing in the wet and fog, radio in one hand and fire extinguisher at the ready, our volunteer marshall Alun James still had a chance to capture these shots on his phone. Not everyone was captured but you can see the weather improve as the day goes on. Ironically by the time we had packed up the road was dry but for all of the drivers we contended with rivers of water crossing the road which caused the start line to be shifted, rain, thick fog and the buzz of powering bravely up an iconic, wet Taranaki Road.
The original footage was shot in slow motion and so I’ve had to speed it up and the audio doesn’t really get captured properly so that’s why there is a soundtrack for those purists who hate them.
