Tuera Shield Challenge – Whanganui Maori vs Taranaki Maori 2016

The Tuera Shield gifted to the Wanganui Rugby Union by Ngati Tuera & Ngati Hinearo of the Whanganui River, and has been played for since 1869 not just against Taranaki Maori, but other provinces.

This game was in Whanganui on Oct. 1st 2016 at Cooks Gardens.

This is the 1st time Whanganui Māori has held this shield in nearly 30 years – 27 years (1989) last time held), winning 43 – 12 against Taranaki Māori.
