The drone footage shows progress on the State Highway 3 Awakino Tunnel Bypass. The project involves building two bridges to bypass the 100-year old single lane tunnel, adding a passing lane and making a 30-metre cut though a hill to realign the road. When it’s finished around the middle of next year the bypass will make driving between the Waikato and Taranaki safer and more reliable.
