Edith Charteris

Edith Charteris has been involved with the South Taranaki community over many years – she was on the Council and Health board advocating strongly for the people of the area—she even stood for Social Credit at the General Election and came a very creditable 2nd to Venn Young.

There have been many other activities that Edith has been part of – working for the American navy to start with—she even tried her hand at driving a steam locomotive.  Throughout her Life Edith has been a battler, and always passionate about the things that she believed in even if it was the opposite to the general point of view.
