Flooding in Opunake 2015

Overnight flooding in Opunake is the worst residents have seen in decades.

South Taranaki District Council (STDC) spokesman Gerard Langford said council staff have been out assessing the damage on Thursday, with a number of homes affected by the morning’s rising waters.

Gerard Langford had spoken to several residents, one whom noted it was “the most rain they had seen in 50 years.”
