One of the fine features of Opunake are the specially built rock walls in a number of prominent locations, they were created by Ian Baker.
Ian was a farmer and a long-time resident of Coastal Taranaki. Over the years he has been involved with, and given a lot of time to a number of community organisations. He even had a small feature made about his work which was shown on TV ONE.
In this Audio documentary Ian talks about his childhood and growing up in New Zealand during the depression years. He tells of his time serving in the Pacific with the Air Force during WW2. He later describes how he came to Taranaki, bought his farm – and went on to become a very trusted and hardworking member of the Coastal Taranaki Community.
