One of the Manaia districts most respected residents is Josie Bingham. Josie was born there in 1927 and has made in many worthwhile contributions to the community’s fabric for the greater part of her life.

Josie talks about her schooling, the tough depression years, her children and the importance of the local Marae which was the major focal point in community life.
