The Secret Life of Kororā | Ngā Motu Marine Reserve Society
“Our environment is us.” Philippa Fairclough
The Ngā Motu Marine Reserve Society founders and volunteers share how coming together to learn about the secret lives of kororā (little blue penguin) can help us understand the bigger picture of biodiversity and what we can do to protect taonga species in Aotearoa NZ.
Located in New Plymouth, Taranaki, Aotearoa NZ, the Ngā Motu Marine Reserve Society was set up in 1997 to support a network of small marine reserves on the Taranaki coast. Taranaki has two ‘no-take’ marine reserves, Parininihi in the north, and Tapuae near New Plymouth. The society is made up of locals who are interested in the study and preservation of local coastal and marine biodiversity.
