BRIEF STATION HISTORY

– Q 90FM was launched in 1989 and broadcast to Taranaki on 90.0 FM.

The station was operated by Radio New Zealand from its New Plymouth premises, alongside sister station Radio Taranaki.

In June of 1991, Q 90FM closed down and the 90.0 FM frequency was replaced with a simulcast of Radio Taranaki.

In December of 1993, 90FM Radio Taranaki was re-branded as Classic Hits 90FM.

In 2014, Classic Hits 90FM was re-branded as The Hits.
